Thinking of Mexico
Posted By admin on February 3, 2010

I’ve been thinking a lot about Mexico this week, Remembering the years that spent living there and remembering how much i can’t wait to go back. Here are some old photos that never made it to the blog. Mexico is a beautiful place.
Sadly, the number of deaths in Mexico during last few years due to Mexican Cartel wars is astounding. More info here : “El Universal newspaper reported today(Jan 11,2010) that 69 people had died violently in the previous 24-hour period, the biggest daily death toll yet in the struggle for supremacy within Mexican organised crime that lies at the heart of the wars. The paper said that 283 people had died in 2010 so far, more than double the figure from the same period last year.” -The Guardian

Most of the fallowing series are of a group of people who had been living for generations in the dumps of large tourist city, Mazatlan. The government forced them to move a few years ago, to an empty lot outside of the main city, with nothing. When I arrived they had been placed under guard by police, and were working hard to find food and water. There were a few local organizations who tried to help the people make homes and re-situate with their entire families. But sadly many things like this go unnoticed.
